Merkur are a German company who produce high quality safety razors. Now owned by Dovo, Merkur have over 70 years experience in the art of producing shaving equipment and specialise in safety razors. Merkur originate from the town of Solingen in Germany, which is a town that is itself a trademark of quality and pride. It was in 1996 that Merkur were taken over by Dovo of Solingen. The range of safety razors includes adjustable razors. These razors allow the user to set the blade exposure of the razor by turning a dial on the razor handle. By exposing the blade more the razor becomes more aggressive which results in a closer shave. It can also result in skin irritation if the skin is too sensitive for such an aggressive shave. It also allows the blade exposure to be set very low which gives a very mild shave. This makes the adjustable razors suitable for all types of skin.
